The Meerut South Assembly Constituency is one among the 403 constituencies in the state of Uttar Pradesh and also one of the largest. The Ward Nos 2, 3, 5, 10, 11, 13, 16, 19, 25, 28, 30, 31, 33, 34, 35, 39, 41 & 46 comprise the Meerut South Constituency. The identification number of the Constituency is 49.Meerut is a vibrant city in UP and is one of the major economical hubs in the state. People of all communities and religions live here in complete harmony. It is the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Meerut Diocese. It is home to the Jama Masjid and the Shahi Eid Gaah as well as the Suraj Kund and the Jain Temples. All the major festivals of all the communities are celebrated with a lot of fervor. The city has ancient roots, right from the times of the Indus Valley Civilization and is today one of the most rapidly growing regions in the NCR. Meerut Metro and Namo Bharat RRTS Achieve Record Ridership After Launch
The Meerut Metro and Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat RRTS witnessed a surge in ridership on their first full day of commercial operations, with over 1 lakh commuters recorded. The integrated system, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is designed to reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut to approximately 55 minutes and aims to improve regional connectivity and promote public transport.
