Chandni Chowk Power Infrastructure Upgrade Complete

Chandni Chowk Pedestrian Corridor to Undergo Repairs
The Public Works Department (PWD) will undertake repair and maintenance work on the 1.6km pedestrianized stretch of Chandni Chowk, from Lal Jain Mandir to Fatehpuri Masjid, with an allocation of ₹3.77 crore. The project aims to restore the surface, improve pedestrian safety, and address long-standing civic neglect and wear and tear due to continuous footfall and encroachments.
The Delhi government has issued new guidelines for managing street dogs, focusing on humane treatment, rabies eradication, and reducing human-dog conflict. Key provisions include designated feeding spots identified by RWAs and residents, protection for animal feeders from harassment with strict legal action for violations, and a 24/7 complaint redressal mechanism. Pet dogs over three months old must be registered, with licenses valid only if rabies vaccinations are current. The guidelines also address handling aggressive and rabid dogs, with rabid dogs to be isolated until natural death and non-rabid dogs to be sterilized, vaccinated, and released. Residents adopting Indian dog breeds will be exempt from registration fees, and sterilization and first vaccinations will be provided free of charge.
