The Gujarat government has allocated ₹2,217 crore for metro projects, including the expansion of the Surat Metro network. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has proposed a 4.4 km elevated extension of Surat Metro Corridor II (Phase I) from Saroli to the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (HSR) corridor.

The Gujarat government has allocated ₹2,217 crore for the expansion of the Surat Metro network as part of its ₹33,504 crore budget for the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department for 2026-27.. Additionally, ₹1,900 crore has been allocated under AMRUT Mission 2.0 to support water supply, drainage, and urban transport.

The Gujarat government has revised its land allocation policy to provide cost relief for municipalities, streamlining the development of civic infrastructure projects across the state. The policy is to allot government land free of cost to municipalities for public welfare projects across towns and cities in the state, unlike earlier practice of paying 25 to 50% of Circle land rates to State govt by Local bodies

The Gujarat government has announced to allocate land free of charge to municipalities for eleven types of essential civic facilities, a move aimed at accelerating urban infrastructure development. This policy shift, which waives land costs previously ranging from 25% to 50% of market rates, is expected to help , 152 municipalities and expedite projects like Sewage treatment plants, fire stations, Anganwadis, town halls, Water supply.
