Traffic Diversions Expected in Gaimukh Ghat Due to Road Repairs

The Public Works Department (PWD) and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will undertake repairs on a 500-meter stretch of the Gaimukh Ghat road from December 12 to 14, 2025. Heavy vehicles will be diverted to alternative routes like the Bhiwandi–Wada route, Mumbai–Nashik Expressway, and Kasheli–Kalher roads.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to construct a 4.98-km double-decker bridge over Vasai creek, connecting Bhayander and Naigaon. This bridge will accommodate metro rail on the upper deck and a road beneath, aiming to improve connectivity and facilitate transportation for surrounding areas, including the isolated Panju island.

The central government has approved the transfer of 53.174 acres of salt land in Thane district to the Maharashtra government for the Dahisar to Vasai Creek road project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and connectivity across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The project is being implemented in two sections: Dahisar to Bhayandar, and Bhayandar to Vasai Creek.

Western Railway announced a night block between Vasai Road and Virar on the intervening night of September 20-21 from 00:15 hrs to 04:15 hrs for track, signalling, and overhead maintenance. Slow line trains will operate on fast lines during this period.
