Surat has launched its first 'Nagar Van' near Dumas Beach, an initiative by the Forest Department to enhance urban green spaces and promote environmental conservation. Developed using the Miyawaki method on 4.50 hectares with an investment of ₹1.5 crore, it features over 5.5 lakh trees and an aquarium with diverse bird and fish species.
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has presented a draft budget of Rs 10,593 crore for 2026-27, with a significant focus on capital expenditure. The budget includes allocations for major projects such as riverfront development, the Rundh Bhatha barrage, and the Dumas seaface project. No increase in property taxes or user charges is proposed.
Several new residential projects in Surat have been launched and are RERA-registered, including Pentaggon in Palanpur , Gruham Heaven in PAL and Siddhi Vinayak Elements in Jahangirabad. These projects are in NorthWest Surat and are gaining prominence due to improved connectivity & infrastructure development Thru Metro bridge (Ongoing) and Pal-Umra bridge over River Taapi.
With a deadline of November 30, 2025, Surat has submitted detailed infrastructure proposals under the Viksit Gujarat Fund, including Dumas Sea Front Phase-2, infrastructure within DREAM City, and the 90m Outer Ring Road Phase-II. These projects are part of a broader initiative to enhance urban infrastructure and development in Gujarat.
