A Rs 356 crore coastal highway project has been launched with a groundbreaking ceremony in Surat's Olpad taluka. This project aims to improve connectivity across South Gujarat by significantly shortening the travel distance between Hazira in Surat and Kantyajal in Bharuch from approximately 55 km to 18-20 km. The four-lane highway will pass through several coastal villages.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved the construction of three flyovers in Surat near Abhva, Khajod, and at the Mindhola River bridge connection, at a total cost of ₹142 crore. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and accidents on the busy National Highway-53, particularly benefiting the industrial belt of Hazira.
