Surat's initial monsoon rainfall has highlighted the Surat Municipal Corporation's (SMC) poor pre-monsoon preparedness, despite significant spending. Widespread flooding on major roads like Surat-Navsari Road caused severe traffic disruptions, vehicle breakdowns, and impacted daily life.

Ahead of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) elections, residents in several societies have announced a boycott of voting due to long-pending civic issues, including poor basic infrastructure, outdated water and drainage systems, and lack of streetlights.

Auro Hotels has announced plans for Gujarat's first JW Marriott hotel, a 9-hole golf course, and a large convention centre at the Earth Space Campus on Bhatpore-Hazira Road. The golf course and academy are expected to launch by December 2026, while the JW Marriott hotel and convention centre are slated for a 2031 opening.

A Rs 356 crore coastal highway project has been launched with a groundbreaking ceremony in Surat's Olpad taluka. This project aims to improve connectivity across South Gujarat by significantly shortening the travel distance between Hazira in Surat and Kantyajal in Bharuch from approximately 55 km to 18-20 km. The four-lane highway will pass through several coastal villages.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has approved the construction of three flyovers in Surat near Abhva, Khajod, and at the Mindhola River bridge connection, at a total cost of ₹142 crore. This initiative aims to reduce traffic congestion and accidents on the busy National Highway-53, particularly benefiting the industrial belt of Hazira.
