Meerut East is an extremely popular region in Uttar Pradesh and one of the more populous areas of Meerut. It falls under the Meerut Vidhan Sabha Constituency and is one of the 403 constituencies in the state and the adjoining areas. Infrastructural growth in this region has been quite significant in recent times.The significance of Meerut cannot be denied, both in economical as well as cultural terms. The city has literally stood the test of time. It has been one of the major centers of revolt during India’s first war of independence and sites like Mustafa Castle bear vestiges of those times. Presently in the educational hub of Uttar Pradesh with over four universities, 50 engineering colleges, 23 management colleges and 7 pharmacy colleges, along with many other schools and educational institutions. The Nauchandi Mela Ground in Meerut hosts one of the most popular and largest fairs in North India and different craftwork and handiwork are showcased here from all across the country. The sports industry in the city is responsible for bringing in massive revenue and most former and current cricketers in India have used bats made in Meerut.
