Uttan–Virar Sea Link Phase I Approved, Promising Major Transport Upgrade

The Maharashtra government has approved Phase I of the Uttan–Virar Sea Link, a project with a total length of 55.12 km, comprising a 24.35-km bridge and 30.77 km of connector roads, that will anchor a larger coastal corridor connecting South Mumbai to Vasai, Virar, and Vadhavan Port. This Rs 58,754 crore project, to be implemented by MMRDA, is expected to significantly reduce travel times.

MMRDA Opts for Charkop Depot After Scrapping Uttan-Dongri Metro 9 Plan Amid Protests

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to scrap its plan to construct a car depot for Metro Line 9 at Uttan-Dongri due to strong opposition from local residents concerned about environmental damage and the felling of approximately 12,000 trees.
