The Maharashtra government has decided to cancel the proposed metro car shed project in Dongri, Mira-Bhayandar, Thane district, due to sustained opposition from local residents, environmental concerns, and land use issues. The decision, announced by Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, prioritizes citizen welfare and environmental protection, with plans of an alternative site to keep the metro project on schedule.

An urban forest has been inaugurated in Uttan under the Miyawaki concept by the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC). This initiative aims to boost greenery and sustainability by planting 8,600 trees of 49 species. The project is part of a broader effort to combat air pollution and improve the city's green belt.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed officials to complete Metro Line 9 by December 15, 2025, and Metro Line 4 by December 31, 2025. This aims to provide significant relief to commuters in Thane and Mira-Bhayandar. Additionally, the 10.32 km service road from Kapurbawdi to Gaimukh will be concretized and merged with the main road by December 31, 2025.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) plans to construct a 4.98-km double-decker bridge over Vasai creek, connecting Bhayander and Naigaon. This bridge will accommodate metro rail on the upper deck and a road beneath, aiming to improve connectivity and facilitate transportation for surrounding areas, including the isolated Panju island.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) conducted the technical inspection and trial run of Metro Line 4 and 4A's priority section, marking progress towards launching Thane's first metro line. The Gaimukh to Cadbury Junction stretch (Phase-1) is expected to be fully operational by April 2026, with four stations ready for use by December 2025.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has successfully completed the technical inspection and trial run of Phase 1 for the Thane-Wadala Metro Line 4, covering Gaimukh to Vijay Garden, including four stations: Gaimukh, Govaniwada, Kasarvadavli, and Vijay Garden.Once fully operational, the 35.2-km corridor with 32 stations is expected to serve over a million daily commuters.

The Bombay High Court has expressed concern regarding the deteriorating condition of roads in Mira-Bhayandar, which have been damaged by heavy rains and metro construction. The court questioned the use of blacklisted contractors for road projects and has adjourned the matter for a detailed hearing on September 20.

The central government has approved the transfer of 53.174 acres of salt land in Thane district to the Maharashtra government for the Dahisar to Vasai Creek road project, which aims to improve traffic flow and connectivity in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The project is being executed in two phases: Dahisar to Bhayandar (Coastal Road) ), and Bhayandar to Vasai Creek .
