The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is nearing completion of its 12.30-km elevated road project from Airoli to Katai Naka. This infrastructure development is expected to significantly reduce travel time and distance between Kalyan-Dombivali and Navi Mumbai, improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion in the region.

Protests have erupted in Thane against the proposed Rs 12,100 crore Thane Integral Ring Metro project, with citizens and elected representatives raising concerns about transparency, public consultation, and the potential impact on existing infrastructure & environment The project, approved by the Union Cabinet, is a 29-km loop with 22 stations, with an estimated completion by 2029.

The Maharashtra Cabinet Infrastructure Committee has approved the ₹17,724.99 crore Mumbai Metro Line 13 project, which will span 25.03 km and include 16 stations connecting Mira Road, Vasai, Naigaon, Nalasopara, and Virar. The project also features a 4.92-km double-decker bridge for integrated road and metro use.
