Central Railway (CR) has completed significant monsoon preparedness works across Mumbai's suburban network, including fixing six critical waterlogging-prone locations. Additionally, CR has begun replacing 12 non-AC suburban services with air-conditioned local trains, increasing the total number of AC services across the Mumbai Division to 120.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has moved forward with the consultant appointment process for Metro Line 14, connecting Kanjurmarg to Badlapur.This will be mproving daily commuting for residents in Mumbai's eastern suburbs and developing parts of the MMR.

The Thane Municipal Corporation has presented a budget of ₹6,221 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27, with no new tax hikes for residents. The budget prioritizes green infrastructure, healthcare, education, and welfare initiatives. A separate transport budget of ₹791 crore has been allocated to improve public mobility.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that Ambernath will soon have two metro lines, significantly improving connectivity and fostering growth in the city. Upcoming projects also include the development of Chikhloli station and slum rehabilitation. The Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan Metro Line 5 project will be extended from Durgadi Naka, via Kalyan, along the Kalyan-Badlapur Road to reach Chikhloli Railway Station in Ambernath.
