The Chandigarh administration has removed the mandatory requirement for property owners to submit a No-Dues Certificate before selling leasehold properties. This decision aims to streamline property transactions by eliminating a procedural step that often caused delays. The move is expected to make leasehold property sales simpler and faster for all parties involved.

Driven by significant infrastructure development, including the Bharat Mala initiative and the ongoing development of Medicity, New Chandigarh is shedding its suburban image and emerging as a primary residential hub. Property values have seen substantial appreciation, with luxury micro-markets experiencing significant capital gains.

Chandigarh is set to implement amendments to its Master Plan-2031, allowing for higher density and increased Floor Area Ratio (FAR) in certain areas, particularly Phase-III and peripheral zones. While this aims to expand housing stock and facilitate commercial/industrial activity, citizens have raised concerns about the existing infrastructure's capacity to handle the increased load.

Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has successfully converted its overhead 11 kV electricity distribution network to an underground system across Sectors 1-8.
