The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has approved a metro project for Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula, with an estimated cost of INR 10,570 Crore. The 39-km metro network, excluding heritage sectors, will include bus terminals and depots and is part of a Comprehensive Mobility Plan approved in April 2023. Phase one is slated for completion between 2027 and 2037.
