Punjab government has set in full motion the compulsory acquisition of a whopping 11,103 acres across Greater Mohali and New Chandigarh to build seven new townships, seven new sectors, three new pockets of Aerotropolis near the Chandigarh international airport, and a brand-new commercial city centre in Sector 87 Mohali modelled on Chandigarh's iconic Sector 17.

Mohali is set to undergo significant transformation in 2026 with a focus on major infrastructure upgrades, green initiatives, and civic projects. These developments include sustainable wastewater management, new roads, improved transport links, and enhanced healthcare facilities, aiming to create a modern and sustainable urban landscape.

NHAI has awarded the construction work for the Zirakpur-Panchkula bypass (19.2 km) and a spur connecting it to the Ambala-Chandigarh expressway (10.3 km). This Rs 1,983-crore project aims to dismantle the chronic traffic gridlock in Zirakpur and surrounding areas by creating a six-lane bypass.

The Punjab government has withdrawn the Punjab Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2025,reinstating the 2021 Building Rules and 2018 Bye-Laws. This policy reversal follows concerns raised about legal, procedural, and infrastructural shortcomings. The restoration of the earlier rules aims to provide a more stable and established regulatory framework for construction in the region.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has lifted the interim ban on new construction in Kharar, which had been imposed due to delays in the master plan notification. The revision of the Kharar master plan, which dates back to 2010, is also being monitored by the court and is expected to commence within the year,

Punjab's Industries and Commerce Minister Sanjeev Arora announced the development of a new Multipurpose Exhibition and Convention Centre in Mohali's IT City. The Rs 250 crore project, developed under a Public-Private Partnership, aims to position Punjab as a hub for global events and investments.

Royale Estate Group has announced the possession ceremony of the Mohali Industrial Economic Zone (MIEZ), North India's first integrated industrial township. Spread across 150 acres, the development was delivered within 22 months, setting a new benchmark for execution speed. MIEZ features robust infrastructure including concrete roads, power supply, water drainage systems, and integrated security.

Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan has inaugurated road repair projects totaling Rs 8 crore. The initiative includes re-carpeting and tiling of approximately 22 km of roads across Sunny Enclave and wards 1, 23, 24, and 25. Key roads like Hospital Road and Randhawa Road, which connect to Ludhiana Road, are being prioritized.
