Punjab government has set in full motion the compulsory acquisition of a whopping 11,103 acres across Greater Mohali and New Chandigarh to build seven new townships, seven new sectors, three new pockets of Aerotropolis near the Chandigarh international airport, and a brand-new commercial city centre in Sector 87 Mohali modelled on Chandigarh's iconic Sector 17.

Punjab Government Reverts Building Bye-Laws, Restoring Previous Rules

The Punjab government has withdrawn the Punjab Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2025,reinstating the 2021 Building Rules and 2018 Bye-Laws. This policy reversal follows concerns raised about legal, procedural, and infrastructural shortcomings. Punjab to Develop State-of-the-Art Exhibition and Convention Centre in Mohali

Mohali to Get State-of-the-Art Exhibition and Convention Centre

The Mohali Municipal Corporation (MC) is expanding its jurisdiction to include newly developed areas such as Aerocity, IT City, Sectors 81, 82, 90, 91, 92, 94, and 86 to 89, along with private projects like TDI City and developments in Sectors 119, 118, 117, 116, 92, and 74-A. This expansion will shift responsibilities for sanitation, park maintenance, streetlights, and roads to the MC, aiming for better accountability and improved civic amenities for residents.
