The Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) is preparing to release a draft Development Plan for 2041, a 20-year urban planning framework designed to guide the city's long-term growth. This plan will expand AUDA's jurisdiction and align with Ahmedabad's aspirations to host the 2036 Olympics.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has presented its highest-ever draft budget of Rs 17,018 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27. The budget prioritizes infrastructure, and sports facilities, in preparation for the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Key allocations include Rs 1,000 crore for elevated corridors and Rs 8,247 crore for sustainable and climate-resilient projects.

Gujarat has recorded a 30% year-on-year increase in revenue from stamp duty and registration fees, reaching Rs 19,102.58 crore in the financial year 2025-26. Surat has emerged as the second-highest city in terms of property registrations, with 2,89,544 registrations. This surge in revenue and registrations indicates a sustained demand in the real estate sector across the state.

Experts at a real estate conclave projected that Ahmedabad hosting at least seven international tournaments could unlock real estate opportunities worth Rs 1 lakh crore, including growth in hotels, housing, malls, and metro expansions, as the government pitches Gujarat as the future 'sports capital of India'.
