PM Narendra Modi inauguratde the Mohali IT City–Kurali Expressway, a 6-lane greenfield corridor, on July 17. This project is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Mohali, Kharar, and Kurali, and improve connectivity across Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and J & K,.

The Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) has identified over ₹1,014 crore in outstanding dues from major real estate developers, including External Development Charges and license fees. This has led to a halt in fresh approvals for affected projects, raising concerns among homebuyers.

GMADA has partially opened one carriageway of the 8.5-km alternate road to Chandigarh International Airport, originating in Phase XI. This development is anticipated to significantly decongest the existing Airport Road, reduce travel time, and improve connectivity between Mohali and the airport.

The Zirakpur Ring Road Project, a 16.5 to 19.2 km six-lane expressway, has begun its bidding process. This project aims to divert traffic from NH-7 and NH-5, featuring green belts and service lanes, at estimated cost ₹1,900 crore. Additionally, the Chandigarh Metro Phase 1 is planned for an extension to Zirakpur's Baltana corridor.

A new 100-feet wide road is being planned to connect Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Zirakpur directly to the Mohali airport, bypassing the longer route through Mohali's road network. This project, pending Ministry of Defence approval for land acquisition, is expected to cut travel distances significantly, improving connectivity and convenience for air travelers from the Tricity region.

Punjab government has set in full motion the compulsory acquisition of a whopping 11,103 acres across Greater Mohali and New Chandigarh to build seven new townships, seven new sectors, three new pockets of Aerotropolis near the Chandigarh international airport, and a brand-new commercial city centre in Sector 87 Mohali modelled on Chandigarh's iconic Sector 17.

NHAI has awarded the construction work for the Zirakpur-Panchkula bypass (19.2 km) and a spur connecting it to the Ambala-Chandigarh expressway (10.3 km). This Rs 1,983-crore project aims to dismantle the chronic traffic gridlock in Zirakpur and surrounding areas by creating a six-lane bypass.

The Punjab government has withdrawn the Punjab Unified Building Bye-Laws, 2025,reinstating the 2021 Building Rules and 2018 Bye-Laws. This policy reversal follows concerns raised about legal, procedural, and infrastructural shortcomings. The restoration of the earlier rules aims to provide a more stable and established regulatory framework for construction in the region.
