Also known as Ajinkyatra Fort, its strategic positioning made it one of the most important fortresses of the Deccan region. Although built by Raja Bhoj II of the Shilahara dynasty in the 12th century, it finally gained prominence during the reign of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
