The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has approved a project to overhaul a century-old brick sewer line under Jawaharlal Nehru Road to address waterlogging in central and south Kolkata. The ₹57 crore project involves desilting and reinforcing the line, aiming to improve stormwater drainage and reduce flooding in areas like Esplanade, Park Street, and the Maidan region and will take 2 years.
