Eden Realty Group has unveiled its new riverfront development residential project, 'Eden Devprayag,' near Kolkata. This initiative which will comprise of luxury residential towers, bungalow/row-housing concepts, 5 star hospitality projects and commercial buildings will be 5000 crore rs investemnt by the group.

Indian Railways has sanctioned projects worth ₹895.30 crore to enhance the power systems of Kolkata Metro and strengthen critical bridge infrastructure in West Bengal. The Kolkata Metro Rail upgrade, receiving ₹671.72 crore, will involve installing new traction substations and upgrading power supply systems, aiming to enable train operations at 2.5-minute intervals.

The Howrah Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, was passed in the state legislative assembly, increasing the number of wards from 50 to 66. This expansion is in response to the increased population within the civic body's limits and aims to ensure better civic amenities. The reorganization will involve restructuring existing wards to accommodate the growing population.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a series of infrastructure development projects in West Bengal. The foundation stone was laid for the Extended Port Gate System at Balagarh, including an Inland Water Transport (IWT) terminal. A new 15-km railway line between Jayrambati and Maynapur was also inaugurated. Furthermore, three new Amrit Bharat Express trains were flagged off, improving long-distance connectivity.

Reports indicate that the East-West Metro stretch has faced delays and disruptions due to water leakage and soil subsidence. Meanwhile, the Metro Railway, Kolkata, has decided to renovate its four-decade-old infrastructure on the Dakshineswar-Kavi Subhas route due to detected cracks, with a target completion of nine months. These infrastructure upgrades are crucial for the city's public transport system.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed authorities to submit detailed action plans for waste and sewage management in Howrah to clean Hooghly river, address legacy waste, solid waste management, and sewage disposal with specific targets. This intervention seeks to enforce environmental accountability among civic and development bodies in the Kolkata Metropolitan Region.
