Plans are underway for an elevated corridor from Kheda Nagar through Anand Nagar, Saket, Gaimukh, and Fountain Hotel in Thane. This corridor is intended to divert heavy commercial and inter-city traffic away from internal city roads, thereby reducing congestion and pollution.

The Thane-Nashik Highway belt, from Majiwada to Ranjnoli/Kalyan, is entering a new growth phase due to 8-lane widening and the development of Mumbai-Thane freeway links. This infrastructure upgrade is expected to improve connectivity and facilitate economic activity along the corridor.

A hoarding on the road divider at Pokhran Road No. 2 collapsed due to strong winds along with incessant rains ,causing traffic disuption. This event, along with other infrastructure failures mentioned in broader Mumbai news, points to the challenges faced by the city during monsoon seasonon.

Alarming levels of contamination have been detected in Navi Mumbai's DPS Flamingo Lake, raising serious concerns about its ecological health and declining flamingo population. Environmentalists attribute the pollution to creek water, sewage, and urban runoff, urging authorities to implement conservation measures.

The Maharashtra government has approved the expansion of Mumbai Metro Line 5 and a new Line 5A corridor, creating a 34.2-km network across Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, and Ulhasnagar at an estimated cost of Rs 18,130 crore.

The Thane Integral Ring Metro project, an approximately INR 12,000-12,200 crore initiative spanning 29 km, is now under direct monitoring by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) via the PRAGATI platform to expedite its progress, with a targeted completion by 2029.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to commence excavation in July for a 7.1-kilometer underground water tunnel connecting Kasheli and Mulund to improve the city's water supply infrastructure. The 7.1 KM long water supply tunnel is set to transport water to several pockets of water from the Bhatsa dams – one of the seven lakes that supply potable water to Mumbai.

The Public Works Department (PWD) and Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) will undertake repairs on a 500-meter stretch of the Gaimukh Ghat road from December 12 to 14, 2025. Heavy vehicles will be diverted to alternative routes like the Bhiwandi–Wada route, Mumbai–Nashik Expressway, and Kasheli–Kalher roads.
