NHAI has resumed work on the elevated portion of the Chennai-Bengaluru Highway (NH 48) at Melvisharam near Arcot. This resumption, including laying of the bitumen carriageway towards Chennai, will provide relief to motorists and ensure safer travel by opening up the new bridge.

Indian Railways has approved the ₹993 crore Arakkonam-Chengalpattu Doubling Project, a 68 km stretch that is part of the Chennai suburban circular rail network. . It will benefit transportation of key commodities and support industrial growth in areas like Sriperumbudur and Oragadam, also strategically linking to the proposed Parandur Airport project.

Tamil Nadu is implementing new town development plans for nine growth centres around Chennai, including Parandur, to guide urban growth for the next 20 years. These centres will be part of the Third Master Plan for the Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA), focusing on managing urbanization, promoting balanced regional growth, and avoiding overburdening existing infrastructure.
