Theur, Pune

Theur is a promising suburb on the Pune - Solapur National Highway 65. It is a part of the Pune district (Haveli Taluka) and 25 kms. from Pune city. Theur is bounded on three sides by the Mula Mutha River.

Theur has the unique distinction of being an important pilgrimage centre. The Chintamani Mandir of Theur is one of the famed Ashtavinayaka (8 Ganeshas) temples of Maharashtra. It is one of the larger and more revered shrines of Lord Ganesha.

Besides the main Ganesha temple at the centre, there are some other shrines on the periphery of the complex. Behind the temple complex is the Peshwa Wada, which was once the residence of the Peshwa.

Ganesh Utsav is celebrated at a large scale in Theur during which a fair is also organised. The MIT Art, Design and Technology University is situated nearby, at Loni Kalbhor, on the NH 65 highway.

The main road connecting Pune to Theur is the Solapur - Pune Highway also called the Mumbai Highway.
