New Bailey Bridge construction initiatives in Kolkata

To ease traffic on the Ultadanga flyover, a new 46-meter Bailey bridge is being constructed to connect Dakshindari with Salt Lake's AA Block, providing an alternative route from VIP Road to Sector V and the EM Bypass.The two-way bridge, costing an estimated Rs 6 crore , is expected completion by the year end. The Public Works Department has proposed a crossover on VIP Road for Salt Lake-bound vehicles heading towards the airport.

The Kolkata Airport is undergoing expansion to increase its annual passenger handling capacity from 2.6 crore to 4.5 crore. A new terminal (T3) is being constructed, expected to be completed by November 2025, which will raise the total capacity to 3.3 crore passengers.
