Harihareshwar, Pune

Harihareshwar is a city in Raigad District, Maharashtra, India. Also known as Dakshin Kashi, it is surrounded by three hills: Harihareshwar, Halshinachal, and Pushpadri. The Savitri River flows into the Arabian Sea at the city of Harihareshwar. North of the town is the temple of Lord Harihareshwar, said to have been blessed by Lord Shiva. That is why Harihareshwar is often called Devgal or the 'house of God'. To the north and south of the temple, it is surrounded by two beaches.

Harihaleshwar is an attraction in Konkan known for its temples and beaches. It is also known as Debhumi or Temple Town. Harihareshwar alone has two beaches. A straight beach of about 2.4 km in front of Harihareshwar Temple and an L-shaped beach of about 2 km in front of MTDC Resort. Hari Hareshwar is an evergreen place that can be visited at any time of the year.

Here you can practice adventure water sports such as paragliding and water surfing. Cliff trekking near Srivardhan is also a big draw for the more adventurous. A temple dedicated to Goddess Somja is present in Srivardhan. The goddess is believed to help extract snake venom from a person's body. Victims kneel down in prayer and perform dandvat around the temple. Shopping in Harihareshwar is similar to shopping in most small religious towns, where mostly religious items and souvenirs are sold.
