The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has completed renaming all slums in the city as 'Uttaran' zones, signifying upliftment and dignity, including upgrades to civic amenities. Kolkata airport authorities are intensifying their vector-control drive by upgrading air curtains at entry and exit points to combat a persistent mosquito infestation, enhancing cleaning cycles and increasing fogging frequency.

The Kolkata Airport is undergoing expansion to increase its annual passenger handling capacity from 2.6 crore to 4.5 crore.
