MMRDA nears completion of Santacruz–Chembur Link Road corridor
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is close to completing the entire Santacruz–Chembur Link Road corridor with the finalization of the BKC–Vakola arm. This development will significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel time between these Western & Eastern suburbs.
The BMC has started handling the collection of wet waste directly from Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) and plans to levy collection charges on malls and hotels, while residential units will be exempted. After banning the transportation of wet waste from Bulk Waste Generators (BWGs) the BMC has started handling the collection directly.
The BMC has granted an extension for the Deonar waste-to-energy plant, with commissioning now expected by mid-2026. The plant will process 600 metric tons of fresh waste daily and generate 8 MW of green electricity. Project faced delays due to pending statutory / environmental clearances.
