CM Devendra Fadnavis announced that Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and the Pune Metropolitan region will soon have a nearly 200 km Metro network. This expansion aims to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the city. Currently, about 33 km of the metro network is operational, & 55 km in construction phase ,with further additions planned.

The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) and Kirkee Cantonment Board (KCB) are in the process of merging with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). This merger aims to provide better civic amenities to the residents of these areas. Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol stated that the process is ongoing to expedite the provision of improved civic services.

Citizens are demanding transparency regarding Pune's roads, citing repeated repairs and mismanagement as a persistent issue that makes daily commutes difficult. Potholes have resurfaced on many roads across the city following recent heavy rain, causing bumpy rides and traffic congestion.

The Pune Smart City Project has been abruptly shut down due to funding shortages, with ₹58 crore in interest withheld by the government impacting ongoing projects [i, 16, 31, 33]. The project, launched in 2016, aimed to revolutionize urban infrastructure in Pune but fell short of its goals. The responsibility for the Smart City assets has been handed over to the municipal corporation.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is planning to establish 500 EV charging stations in public places across the city to encourage the use of electric vehicles. The charging stations will be located in municipal gardens, main roads, and educational institutes. The PMC has issued a tender for the project and plans to involve private agencies for setting up the charging stations.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has presented a budget of ₹12,618 crore for 2025-26, prioritizing roads, metro projects, and development in merged villages, without increasing taxes [i, 3, 5, 8, 12]. Key allocations include ₹75 crore for Katraj-Kondhwa Road and ₹50 crore for its construction [i]. The budget focuses on incomplete projects and includes provisions for water metering systems, road improvements and health services.
