₹4,051 Crore Approved for Underground Power Cabling in Hyderabad Metro Zones

A ₹4,051 crore project has been approved to convert overhead electricity distribution lines to an underground cabling network across key metro zones in Hyderabad, including Banjara Hills, Secunderabad, Hyderabad Central, and Hyderabad South circles. This will improve aesthetics , reduce distribution losses and will promote industrial / commercial activities.

Secunderabad Railway Station Rebuilding Project Nears Completion

The rebuilding of Secunderabad Railway Station, a project costing ₹715 crore, is progressing with the South Block targeted for completion in four months. The modernized station will include a large waiting hall, Canteen, 26 lifts, 32 escalators and connectivity. Once completed, it will handle up to 2.7 lakh passengers daily, improving inter-city connectivity and passenger experience.

Construction of the Paradise–Dairy Farm Road elevated corridor on NH-44 has resulted in road closures and diversions in Secunderabad. Some diverted routes have become difficult to navigate due to potholes particularly at junctions like Balamrai and Tivoli. secunThe nine-month closure is expected to continue impacting traffic flow in the northern stretches of the city.

Senior officials from multiple civic departments have planned a Rs 303-crore infrastructure overhaul in the Secunderabad Cantonment to address chronic flooding and damaged roads. The project will implement a coordinated plan for stormwater and road development, including new stormwater drains, widened existing drains, culvert construction, and road resurfacing.

Two new elevated corridor projects are planned from Paradise Junction in Secunderabad towards Shamirpet Outer Ring Road (ORR) to significantly reduce traffic congestion. Elevated corridor 1 stretches from Paradise Junction to Shamirpet ORR for 18.10 kilometers, costing an estimated ₹3,619 crore. Elevated corridor 2 goes from Paradise Junction to Dairy Farm Road for 5.4 kilometers, costing an estimated ₹1,550 crore.
