Heavy rainfall has increased water storage in Mumbai's seven lakes to 7.03 lakh ML, which is 48.59% of their capacity. This has eased fears of a water shortage, though a decision on withdrawing water cuts will depend on future lake levels.

Mumbai is set to develop 27 underground parking facilities, one in each administrative ward, to alleviate the severe parking shortage. This project, backed by the BMC Budget 2026-27, will create parking beneath existing gardens and playgrounds, reducing roadside parking and traffic congestion.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is preparing to take over 24 major flyovers and several key road structures from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). This move aims to establish a single point of authority for maintenance, repairs, and pothole filling, promising faster response times.

The BMC's FY26-27 budget includes a substantial allocation of ₹6,475 crore for water security initiatives. This funding is designated for projects such as the Manori desalination plant (₹500 crore) and the Gargai project (₹437.51 crore), aimed at augmenting the city's water supply capacity.

MMRDA has made significant progress on the 7.35 km Atal Setu–Mumbai–Pune Expressway connector. With foundation and girder works advancing, the project is on track for completion by February 2027. This will enable signal-free travel and faster connectivity between Mumbai and Pune.

BMC is set to table an amnesty scheme aimed at granting occupation certificates (OCs) to thousands of housing societies that have been unable to obtain them due to deviations or additional constructions. The scheme will apply to societies built before November 17, 2016, and will allow legalisation upon payment of applicable charges, with a 50% concession on various fees for proposals submitted within the first six months.
