Goregaon-Mulund Link Road Flyover Set to Open in May 2026

BMC to Begin Excavation for Underground Water Tunnel, Engineers Trained at IIT Bombay
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to commence excavation in July for a 7.1-kilometer underground water tunnel connecting Kasheli and Mulund to improve the city's water supply infrastructure. The 7.1 KM long water supply tunnel is set to transport water to several pockets of water from the Bhatsa dams – one of the seven lakes that supply potable water to Mumbai.

Trial runs were conducted on a 10-kilometer stretch from Cadbury Junction to Kasarvadavali and a 4.4-km priority section between Gaimukh and Vijay Garden. Phase 1 of the Thane-Wadala route is expected to open in stages by December 2025 and April 2026, with four stations ready by December 2025. The entire Metro Line 4 and 4A corridor will span 58 kilometers and is designed to operate eight-coach trains, benefiting an estimated 21 lakh commuters daily and reducing travel time by 50-75%.
