BMC Outlines Timelines for Key Infrastructure Projects

The BMC has set completion targets for key infrastructure projects: the Bandra (E)-Kalanagar skywalk (almost complete) , the first phase of the Bandra-Dharavi flyover reconstruction (Mithi river widening project ,near completion) , and the Worli connector by December 2026. These projects are expected to improve pedestrian access, ease traffic congestion, and enhance overall connectivity within the city.

Worli Plot Leased for Development

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has floated a tender to lease a plot in Worli for 30 years under a private participation model, expected to generate nearly ₹200 crore for ongoing civic projects. Earlier this year, BMC leased two prime plots, one near Crawford Market and another at the Worli Asphalt Plant, bringing in more than Rs. 1,152 crore.

The Maharashtra government has initiated steps to convert the 6.4-hectare Worli Dairy plot for commercial use. The Urban Development Department has reclassified the land under DCPR 2034 from residential to commercial, inviting public objections. The MMRDA had previously requested control of the site for redevelopment as a mixed-use node.

Mumbai Metro's expansion includes eight lines under construction, aiming to create an integrated transport network. Line 3 (Aqua Line) is nearing completion, with its final stretch from Worli to Cuffe Parade expected to open on September 30, 2025. Metro Lines 4 and 4A will significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity between Mumbai and Thane, linking Wadala, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Kasarvadavali, and Gaimukh.

The Maharashtra government has approved the redevelopment of the 15.8-acre Worli Dairy land into a financial and commercial hub, tasking the MMRDA as the special planning authority.
