Himachal Pradesh seeks bids for 5 MW solar project maintenance.

The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation (HPPCL) has recently announced that it is seeking bids for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the 5 MW Berradol Solar Power Project. Located in Bilaspur district, this project is expected to play a significant role in boosting renewable energy infrastructure in the state. With a five-year contract duration, this opportunity attracts private firms with expertise in solar power project management.

Bidding Process and Requirements

Interested bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of ?550,000 ($6,616) along with a tender document fee of Rs. 10,000. The deadline for submission of bids is April 18, 2024, and the bidding ceremony will be held on the same day. To be eligible to participate, bidders must fulfill certain criteria. These include possessing a valid registration with the Regional Provident Fund Commissioner and demonstrating an average annual turnover of Rs. 10 million over the last three financial years. Proof of competency is also essential, with bidders needing to provide evidence of completing an operation and maintenance contract for a grid-connected solar power project successfully. The specifications outline that completion of three works for projects equal to or greater than 1 to 2 MW in capacity, two completed works for 2 to 4 MW capacities, or one completed work for capacities equal to or greater than 4 MW would meet this requirement. Additionally, firms that have been blacklisted by central or state governments or have a history of litigation may not participate. Furthermore, joint ventures are also excluded from submitting bids for the project.

Promoting Renewable Energy Development

This initiative by HPPCL showcases the commitment of Himachal Pradesh towards renewable energy development. In December, the company had issued a tender for the design, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of 50 MW solar projects across the state. This not only emphasizes the state’s focus on solar energy but also presents a significant opportunity for companies involved in the renewable energy sector. Moreover, in May 2023, HPPCL had invited bids for a 3 MW solar power project in Sainj, located in Kullu district. These endeavors demonstrate the state’s holistic approach in promoting renewable energy sources in various districts, further propelling Himachal Pradesh’s clean energy ambitions. The tender for the 32 MW solar project in the Una region in March 2023 consolidated HPPCL’s position as a key promoter of green energy infrastructure. By including end-to-end operation and maintenance services on a turnkey basis, the organization showcases its commitment to ensuring the continuous and sustainable operation of solar installations.

Accelerating Himachal Pradesh’s Transition to Clean Energy

With the latest tender for the operation and maintenance of the 5 MW Berradol Solar Power Project, HPPCL aims to facilitate a smoother transition towards clean and sustainable energy in Himachal Pradesh. By partnering with private firms experienced in managing solar power projects, the state aspires to leverage external expertise in segment specialties.

This collaboration is crucial for the efficient and effective utilization of renewable energy resources. The state government and HPPCL’s efforts align with global and national initiatives promoting renewable energy adoption. The Berradol Solar Power Project and similar ventures play a pivotal role in reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels. It not only bolsters regional energy security but also contributes significantly to national targets of sustainability and aims to achieve a greener and cleaner future for all.
