PM Modi to Inaugurate India’s Largest Expressway this Republic Day

Delhi Mumbai Highway

Being developed with the motive of linking two major economic hubs of the country, the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is the longest expressway in India. The foundation stone for this dream project was laid down in March 2019 and is scheduled to be inaugurated soon. As per reports, Gurugram’s MP, Rao Inderjit Singh, attended a meeting with Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari and declared that PM Narendra Modi would inaugurate this 8-lane greenfield expressway on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day, i.e. on January 26, 2023.

As per the masterplan, the expressway will feature 8 lanes and will cover the distance between Delhi to Mumbai by passing through multiple greenfield sites and five states, including Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra. It will start from Gurugram and pass through Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, Ratlam in MP and Vadodara in Gujarat. This first longest expressway in India is being built at the expense of approximately Rs. 98,000 crores and will cut down the Delhi-Mumbai distance from 727 km to 572 km.

The work around the Gurugram-Dausa section of the longest expressway of India is almost completed and will improvise the connectivity to Jaipur by reducing travel time by around 30 minutes. Interestingly, opening the Gurugram-Dausa stretch of the longest expressway in India will significantly reduce the load on the Delhi-Jaipur highway and bring down the congestion in Gurugram. Recently, Rao Inderjit Singh also informed that Nitin Gadkari accepted the proposal of building up an elevated road between Gurugram’s Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk. NHAI will finance Rs. 100 crores that will be required to construct this elevated road.
