The Election is currently underway in Madhya Pradesh, and the relevant authorities are taking the necessary steps to implement law and order efficiently. The State Election Commission (SEC) Basant Pratap Singh Informed on Tuesday that in the first phase, about 133 urban bodies will be polling. Voting will be held in 86 city councils, 36 municipal councils and 11 municipal corporations. Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sarna, Sagar, Singrauli, Khandwa, Burhanpur and Chhindwara are among the municipal corporations under this polling. What are the Different Voting Phases?

The first voting phase for 133 municipal corporations is ongoing in Madhya Pradesh. The polling is also underway across 133 municipal corporations, including Indore, Bhopal and other 49 districts.

Two phases are being allotted for the civic body election. However, the second polling phase will occur on 13th July; the results will be announced on 17th July once the vote gets counted.

The state commission has informed that 13,148 polling booths are already set up for the first phase of civic polls. Of the 13,148 polling stations, 3,296 have been declared sensitive polling booths. 

In addition, it is expected that about 1.04 crore voters will be exercising their franchise.

Why Indore Seeking 1500 Staff for Poll?

Several polling booths in Indore are declared sensitive, and the Indore election office is seeking 1500 staff from the neighbouring Barwani, Jhabua and Dhar. This incident occurs after the central government department’s staff removal from the civic body poll.

To comply with the High Court’s order, the Indore election office has freed around 1500 central government employees from the civic body polls. However, to replace the 1500 central government employees, the ADM Abhay Bedekar added that 1500 employees of neighbouring Barwani, Jhabua and Dhar will be assigned different responsibilities in the civic body polls. He also added that the Indore election office hiring for poll for election polls has already sent master trainers to train 400 employees of the Dhar district administration.

Data Structure of Candidates and Mayor

A total of 101 candidates are in the fray for the mayor post in 11 municipal corporations, whereas 11,250 candidates are contesting for the 2,808 posts of urban bodies corporations. Moreover, 42 candidates are already elected unopposed.

On Thursday, the State Election Commission (SEC) Basant Pratap Singh stated that all the polling teams had reached their respective booths, and all the required preparation had already been completed.

There are around 13,148 booths that have been established for polling in 133 urban bodies, including 11 municipal corporations, 86 Nagar Parishads and 36 municipalities.

Which Tech will be Used?

The State Election Commission (SEC) Basant Pratap Singh said the Electronic Voting Machines would be used for polling at all places. He added that white and pink colours would be exhibited in the Electronic Voting Machine for the post of mayor and corporator, respectively. Similarly, blue and yellow colours will be exhibited for the post of Nagar Parishads and corporator in municipalities, respectively.
