What is Aadhaar Address Validation Letter?

An aadhaar Address Validation letter is a document that e the UIDAI sends to the address of the Aadhaar Verifier. Once the Address Verifier agrees to use their address by the requesting resident, this validation document comprising a secret code is sent for Verification. After submitting the request, the resident receives the Aadhaar Verification Letter within 30 days. 

However, the UIDAI website has discontinued this facility that allowed Aadhaar card holders to update their address with the help of the Aadhaar Address Validation Letter. This option has been removed from the official UIDAI portal and will remain shut until further notice. 

Starting the Letter Requesting Address Validation

Step 1: Go to UIDAI’s official website.

Step 2: Under the “My Aadhaar” page, select “Request for Address Validation Letter.”

Step 3: Log in using your Virtual ID or Aadhaar number.

Step 4: You must input the Aadhaar ID of your Verifier. After receiving your verifier’s approval and authentication, your aadhaar will be updated using their aadhaar address.

Step 5: At this point, click “Submit” to continue.

Address Verifier’s Approval

Step 1: Your verifier will be sent a message with a link asking permission to validate the address.

Step 2: After clicking the link, the verifier will get another SMS with an OTP for further verification.

Step 3: To verify, enter the OTP and the captcha code.

Step 4: You will receive your Service Request Number (SRN), which is 28 digits, by SMS.

Confirming the verifier’s approval

Step 1: You must now log in using the SRN that was provided.

Step 2: Check your address information

Step 3: If you’d like, you can edit your native tongue.

After Letter Reception

Step 1: A letter validating your address and a secret code will be mailed to the verifier’s address.

  • Visit the official website of uidai[dot]gov[dot]in and download & save the “EAadhaar.pdf file on your computer. Open the file and enter your aadhaar password (PIN Code).
  • The screen will open a page. Click on the button “Right Click” on your digital signature.
  • Clicking on the button will give you options such as “Validate Signature”, “View Signed Version” and “Show Signature Properties”.
  • Click on the “Show Signature Properties” option and it will present a pop-up window showing a few details. Next, click on the button “Show Signature’s Certificate”. Then, click on the button “Trust tab”.
  • This will present another pop-up window called Certificate Viewer. It will include information like “Sign document data”, “Certify documents” and other details. Now click on the option “Add to Trusted Certificates”.
  • Next, a confirmation message will be displayed. It will ask “Are you sure you want to do this?”. Click on “OK” button.
  • Now, the screen will display a window called “Import Contact Settings” along with “DS Unique Identification Authority of Indian 03”. 
  • Check the “Trust” message and click on the button “OK”.
  • A pop-up window called the “Certificate Viewer” that opened earlier will resurface. Click on the “OK” button now.
  • Next, the screen will show the window “Signature Properties” again. Click on “Validate Signature” now.
  • At final, your Digital Signature is “Validated” now.
