GHMC – the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is a local government body overseeing Hyderabad, the capital of the Indian state of Telangana located in Southern India and Secunderabad, the twin city of Hyderabad. 

Formed on 16 April 2007, it is counted among India’s largest municipal corporations with an area of 650 km² and a population of 7.9 million. 12 municipalities and 8 gram panchayats were united with the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. The municipalities are from Rangareddy district and Medak district namely Gaddi annaram, Secunderabad, Kapra, Alwal, L. B. Nagar, Kukatpally, Serilingampalle, Qutubullapur, Ramachandrapuram, Rajendranagar and Patancheru, and the panchayats include Jallapalli, Mamdipalli, Satamarai, Shamshabad, Almasguda, Mankhal, Ravirala and Sardanagar.GHMC is currently spread across four districts Hyderabad district, Sangareddy district, Medchal district and Ranga Reddy district. 

GHMC has been divided into six zones (east, west, north, south, northeast and central zones), 30 circles and 150 wards, and is headed by a Commissioner, an IAS officer and also has a Special Commissioner who too belongs to IAS. The commissioner has the executive power of the body. Corporators are elected to power in a quinary election, to look after the constituencies and make sure that they have the basic civic infrastructure in place and the part of the authorities does not have any space or break. 

The geographical area of the house covers most of the HMDA – Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, the urban development agency. There are 24 Assembly constituencies under GHMC; 64 ex-officio members with constituencies in GHMC jurisdiction vote in the election of GHMC.

To apply for a marriage registration certificate in Telangana, you need to submit Form A visiting the official website of GHMC along with the following documents:

  • Wedding invitation card
  • Pictures of the marriage ceremony capturing the groom and the bride

  • Date of Birth proof of the couple (passport copies or copies of SSC certificates)
  • Three witnesses to sign in the form
